Scrim Facing Insulation is a premium brand of specialised thermal insulation products designed for the South African construction industry. This aluminum-based reflective foil product serves as a high-performance double-sided reflective radiant barrier for both domestic and industrial roof systems.
The product reflects radiant heat away from buildings during hot summer months, stabilizing indoor temperatures and reducing energy consumption for heating and cooling.
Our Two Grades
Scrim Facing Insulation offers a Domestic Grade and an Industrial Grade, both manufactured with the same core technology but engineered for different demands.

Composition (Both Grades)
Both products feature a robust 4+ layer construction:
- Outer Layer: Pure Aluminum Foil (reflective)
- Adhesive: High-quality flame-retardant Polyethylene
- Core: Natural Kraft Paper (flame retardant in Industrial grade)
- Reinforcement: Two-way Fiberglass Scrim (different spacing per grade)
- Adhesive: High-quality flame-retardant Polyethylene
- Outer Layer: Pure Aluminum Foil (reflective)
This creates a strong, durable, double-sided reflective radiant barrier with excellent tensile strength and dimensional stability.

Installation Overview
Domestic Grade (DRB180B) Installed under tiling battens or metal roof sheeting. Laid horizontally with minimum 150 mm overlaps, pulled tight from the eaves towards the apex. Secured with nails, staples or double-sided tape. Extra overlap required at ridge and gutters.
Industrial Grade (DRB251B) Designed for steel roof structures using PVC straining wires and steel battens/purlins. Laid vertically along the straining wires (recommended spacing 350 mm). Secured to the wires. Professional installation by a licensed contractor is strongly advised for industrial projects.
